Ukraine, Russia have not yet agreed on gas – Prodan

Ukraine and Russia, through the mediation of the European Commission, have not yet achieved interim agreements to restore Russian gas supplies.
Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said this in Brussels on Friday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“Trilateral talks were planned for today. However, the European Commission received proposals to the protocol it offered from the Russian and Ukrainian sides. Attempts are being made to include this in the protocol. Because each side, both Ukrainian and Russian, received respective proposals, and it’s necessary to notify by Tuesday which of them are acceptable,” Prodan said.
He noted that in terms of some proposals there were significant differences between the parties, including as to who should sign this protocol.
According to the minister, it is an interim document that could be signed in the form of amendments to the existing contact, or it could be a new contract.
“Today it’s difficult to agree on all positions,” he said.
