Ukraine may get $50 bln from Gazprom – Naftogaz

Ukraine may get $50 billion from the Russian Gazprom if a claim of Naftogaz is satisfied in the Stockholm Arbitration, said Yuriy Vitrenko, business development director of Naftogaz, in an interview with Hromadske TV channel.
”The total amount of money at stake in the Stockholm Arbitration is $50 billion, of which $30 billion is compensation, which we demand as we had previously  received from Gazprom less than required or overpaid them; and at least $20 billion is an extra cash flow that we will get after the Stockholm decision is issued. In addition, in Stockholm, we make them begin to work in Ukraine in line with the European rules,” said Vitrenko.
At the same time, according to Vitrenko, the Russian energy giant applies all means available to delay the proceedings.
”The proceedings are underway. They are delaying the proceedings. The hearings will begin this fall. We are strengthening our positions. We provide reasonable answers, using foreign experts, to any questions asked by the Russians, we are quite comfortable. If there are no political risks, we are confident that we will prove in court the validity of its position,” said Vitrenko.
