Ukraine to check Akhmetov`s commitments under Ukrtelecom deal

The Ukrainian government plans to set up an interdepartmental ad hoc group to check how Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov`s System Capital Management, which acquired a controlling stake in the country`s largest fixed-line operator Ukrtelecom, has been implementing its commitments under the purchase agreement.

Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine Ihor Bilous will report on the issue, according to the government`s agenda for October 5, which was published on the government`s official portal without further detail being disclosed.

Earlier, the government announced it would put forth changes to the Tax Code of Ukraine to be approved on October 5 and then tabled in parliament.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in January-March 2016 Ukraine`s major fixed-line operator Ukrtelecom posted a net profit of UAH 100 million against a net loss of UAH 165.5 million in the same period of 2015.

Ukrtelecom is the largest fixed-line operator in Ukraine, and also a leader on the broadband Internet access market with more than 1.6 million subscribers.
