Ukraine builds up troops, strengthens air defense system: Defense Ministry reports

Ukraine has improved its air defense system and increased the number of troops in each branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Defense Ministry Spokesperson Colonel Oleksiy Chernobay said at a briefing on Friday, according to a UNIAN correspondent.

”The air defense system in the eastern and southern regions has been improved, taking into account the available forces and the resources,” the spokesperson stated.

Further, Chernobay noted that Ukraine has increased the number of troops in each branch of the Armed Forces and significantly strengthened the combat potential. Notably, new military units and military authorities have been created.

”With regard to the Air Forces, fighting strength of the anti-aircraft missile troops has been built up and the number of serviceable aircraft has been increased, thanks to supplies of repaired, new and modernized military aircraft by domestic enterprises,” he added.

Chernobay also said electronic warfare operations brigades are being re-equipped with modern domestically-produced radio-electronic facilities.

Ukraine is also developing its navy. Currently, capacity-building activity of the surface forces is being implemented. As a result, four warships and seven boats have been brought back into operation.

”Following the completion of state tests, two small armored boats will be handed over to the Ukrainian Navy. The production of another four such boats is planned to be completed by the end of the year,” Chernobay declared.

According to earlier reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are ready for a possible invasion of Ukrainian territory by Russian troops. The situation is constantly being monitored.
