Ukraine approves investment programs for companies to install heat meters

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) has approved the 2016 investment programs for seven companies planning to introduce 100% accounting of thermal energy by installing commercial heat energy meters, the NEURC press service reported.
”The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission has approved the 2016 investment programs for the following companies: Kaniv utility company of thermal supply networks, Kirovogradteplo, Lubnyteploenergo, Kyiv Svyatoshyn district heating network, Severodonetsk combined heat and power plant, Dniprorudnensk heat networks and Tokmak heat energy,” the  statement reads.
It is reported that investment funds will be channeled above all for a 100% provision of multi-apartment buildings with commercial heat energy metering devices.
According to the press service, the NEURC has approved similar investment programs for 43 companies in 2016, envisaging the installation of 10,023 heat meters.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 4, expert on energy efficiency issues within the framework of ”Intensive Reform Package” project Svyatoslav Pavlyuk said that energy losses in the Ukrainian heating systems exceed more than twice the standard figures set at 13%. According to Pavlyuk, the installation of heat meters in houses will allow to determine the actual heat consumption volumes by houses, as well as heat and water losses in networks.
In addition, in April, Kyivenergo company, which carries out heat and power supplies for Kyiv consumers, announced plans to install 2,400 thermal energy metering stations for each housing block before the start of the 2016-2017 heating season.
In early May, the National energy and utility regulator increased central heating tariffs in Ukraine by an average of 75-90% against the background of establishing  from May 1 the single natural gas prices for households at UAH 6,879 UAH per 1,000 cubic meters. The next increase in heating tariffs is scheduled for July 1.
