Two ex-NBU officials arrested on suspicion of embezzling UAH 787 million

Two former officials of the National Bank of Ukraine have been arrested for participation in a criminal organization, which had been controlled by the ousted ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, according to Ukraine`s chief military prosecutor Anatoliy Matios.
Among the detainees is ex-deputy head of the National Bank Oleksiy Tkachenko and former head of the general department of banking supervision Roman Yakovlev, Matios wrote on Facebook.
It is noted that the two former officials are charged with embezzlement through abuse of power of UAH 787,396,148.
”The investigation was personally headed by Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and Head of the SBU Security Service Vasyl Hrytsak and conducted by the Military Prosecutor`s Office,” reads the statement.
