Militants near Alchevsk have received reinforcements, and they are preparing for a long defense.
National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The arrival of reinforcements for terrorists in Perevalsk, Zorynsk, Maloivanivka, Mala Fashchivka, Verhuliyivka and Rozsypne and the equipment of these towns for a long-term defense were recorded,” Lysenko said.
He said that in other parts of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone active positional battles were underway on the outskirts of Luhansk, near Novosvitlivka and Khriashchuvate, Donetsk and Ilovaisk, Maryinka, Starobesheve and Olenivka in Volnovakha, Donetsk region.
“The shelling of Debaltseve with mortars mounted on vehicles continues,” Lysenko said.
