TASS: Naftogaz confirms letter to Gazprom on gas supplies

NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine confirmed on Tuesday it had sent a letter to the Russian gas holding Gazprom with a request to resume supplies of Russian natural gas, according to Russian news agency TASS.
”NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine sent a proposal to Gazprom to sign an addendum to the contract between the parties,” press service of the Ukrainian company said, TASS wrote.
”Procurement of Russian gas may resume on condition of a competitive price and approval of the next winter package,” Naftogaz said. ”The price at the level of ”hub minus transport” is regarded as ”competitive and justified,” Naftogaz said.
Gazprom received a letter from Ukraine`s Naftogaz requesting resumption of natural gas supplies, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian gas holding Alexey Miller said earlier on Tuesday. The period of nine months was meant – the second half of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017, he added.
Ukraine stopped buying Russian gas in November 2015. Naftogaz may resume import of gas from Russia in the third quarter of 2016 if a discount is offered, CEO of the company Andrei Kobolev said on June 6.
