State Statistics Service data reflects inflation trajectory in country`s regions

The highest level of deflation in June this year, on a month-on-month basis, was recorded in Kherson region in southern Ukraine, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported on its website.
Deflation in the Kherson region was 0.7% in June, according to the report.
It was also noted that seven Ukrainian regions reported an increase in inflation in May. Of note, zero inflation was recorded in the Volyn region. Also, an inflation rate of 0.1% was recorded in the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions, according to the State Statistics Service. The Luhansk, Poltava, Chernihiv regions saw an inflation rate of 0.2%, and Kharkiv regions posted a 0.3% inflation rate.
In May, the steepest decline in prices of food was seen in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions (1.7%), while the largest declines in the prices of clothing and footwear  were reported in the city of Kyiv (4.7%).
As UNIAN reported earlier, in June Ukraine saw a deflation of 0.2%, month-on-month, after a 0.1% rise in inflation in May, as compared to the previous month. In annual terms, inflation in June 2016 slowed to 6.9% year-over-year, down from 7.5% recorded in the previous month. Since the beginning of 2016, January through June, consumer prices in the country rose by 4.9%.
The National Bank of Ukraine expects headline inflation in Ukraine to moderate to 12% by the end of 2016. The International Monetary Fund had earlier predicted inflation in Ukraine would reach 15.1%, while the World Bank anticipated an inflation rate of 15%.
According to an expert consensus forecast compiled by UNIAN, this year`s inflation is projected to slow to 19%. The 2016 state budget of Ukraine assumes an annual inflation rate of 12%, and a hryvnia exchange rate of about 24.1 UAH per dollar.
