The Russian government has increased the levy on foreign carriers for travelling on Russian roads from RUB 60,000 to RUB 120,000 per year, according to a resolution published on the official website of the Russian Government, Russian business news agency PRIME has reported.
The government also increased the daily payment for travel from RUB 385 to RUB 850. These fees apply to vehicles with load capacity from 3.5 to 12 tonnes.
In addition, Latvia and Lithuania were included in the list of foreign countries, whose carriers should pay fees for travel on Russian roads.
The explanatory note to the document stipulates that according to the federal law, if foreign states introduce fees for the Russian carriers on travelling in their territory, similar levies will be introduced for foreign carriers in Russia.
The list of foreign countries, whose carriers are to pay fees for using Russian roads, includes: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Turkmenistan, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Sweden.
