Poroshenko: Better deputies from Donbas than war

Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which are now controlled by militants and will receive a special status later, should participate in the early parliamentary elections. At the same time, the choice of residents on these territories should be respected, because it is better than the war.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said at an extended meeting of the Cabinet, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I can agree, for sure, we will not be delighted by the composition of local deputies, who may be elected by residents of Luhansk and Donbas at the preterm parliamentary elections. But isn’t better that the policy is decided by ballots instead of gunfire and Grad volleys?” he said.
The President is convinced there is no alternative to this approach. “We have to learn to recognize those, for whom [people] will vote in Donetsk and Luhansk. And build the state together,” Poroshenko said.
