One-third of Ukrainian banks incur loss since 2016

A total of 35 out of 100 operating banks in Ukraine in January-September this year have incurred a loss worth UAH 20.375 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.

According to the data on the financial results of Ukrainian banks at the end of the third quarter, other 65 banks made a profit in the total amount of UAH 8.750 billion, and, as a result, the total loss on solvent banks amounted to UAH 11.625 billion.

The greatest profit for nine months was reported by JSC Raiffeisen Bank Aval, CitiBank PJSC, PJSC OTP Bank, PJSC ING Bank Ukraine and PJSC CB Privatbank. The greatest loss was received by Ukrainian subsidiaries of Russian state-owned banks – Sberbank PJSC, PSC Prominvestbank, and PJSC VTB Bank, as well as subsidiaries of foreign banks UniCredit Bank and UkrSibbank.
