NATO not recognizing ‘elections’ in Crimea

The North Atlantic Alliance does not recognize the so-called “elections” that took place in Russian-occupied Crimea on September 14, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has said.
“We continue to condemn Russia’s illegal and illegitimate ‘annexation’ of Crimea and its continued and deliberate destabilization of eastern Ukraine in violation of international law,” Rasmussen said.
He also called on Russia to reverse the occupation of Crimea.
“We stand united in our support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders,” Rasmussen said.
