Naftogaz carries out zero gas imports in Q2

National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine did not import natural gas into the country in Q2 2016, the company`s press service reported.
Naftogaz resumed the purchase of natural gas from European suppliers this month, using its own funds, according to the report. The import of natural gas from Europe to Ukraine was, therefore, carried out by private traders in Q2 of 2016.
In the period from July 2015 to April 2016, Naftogaz imported 7.4 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, of which 5 bcm was supplied from Europe and 2.4 bcm was bought from Russia, according to Naftogaz.
The company reported that in July 2015, the minimum price of gas offered by a European supplier amounted to US$283 per 1,000 cubic meters (delivery to Ukraine`s border). In subsequent months, the price of gas saw a downward trajectory, with the price at $189 per 1,000 cubic meters as of April 2016.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine stopped transferring gas from its underground facilities following the conclusion of the heating season, and since April 7, gas stocks are being replenished.
NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine plans to pump 14.5 bcm of gas into its underground gas storage facilities by the start of the next heating season.
The company said it would carry out gas purchases using its own funds and loan money provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to the tune of $300 million.
