Merkel, Hollande require immediate cessation of hostilities in Donbas

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande require an immediate ceasefire in the east of Ukraine.
The leaders of Germany and France said this in a telephone conversation that took place on Monday evening, January 26, DW online news site reported.
In particular, Hollande and Merkel have mutual opinion that there is a need to quickly put an end to the violence.
As reported, recently Hollande also had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As a reminder, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier accused separatists of undermining efforts to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine after shelling of Mariupol. He also called on Moscow to influence the militants.
