Malaysia interested in Ukraine-made weaponry

Malaysian Defense Ministry got interested in weapons and military equipment produced by Ukroboronprom, Ukraine`s state-owned arms manufacturer, presented at the International Defense Exhibition Conference DSA-2016 in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the press service of Ukroboronprom, which represents Ukrainian defense industry at the exhibition held April 18-21, Minister of Defense of Malaysia Hishamuddin Hussein has shown particular interest in a Ukrainian An-148 aircraft and Kolchuga-M signals intelligence station.

”The Malaysian military paid the greatest attention to modern military equipment in the fields of aircraft, armored vehicles and radar manufacturing. They were shown a sample of Ukraine`s latest model of an armored personnel carrier Dozor-B, which is already in service with the national army; and presented the possibilities of the legendary Oplot main battle tank,” reads the statement.

In addition, the delegation of Ukroboronprom headed by CEO Roman Romanov, discussed with Hishamuddin Hussein the most promising cooperation programs and procedures for their implementation.

As UaPosition reported earlier, Ukroboronprom signed 15 memorandums of cooperation in the sphere of defense with Indian companies following the arms exhibition DefExpo 2016 held in India. During the exhibition, Ukraine`s only aircraft manufacturer, the state-owned enterprise Antonov, presented a project of a new transport aircraft An-132, designed to replace An-32, An-148, and An-178.
