Luhansk region gets over 90 mln loan for social projects

The European Investment Bank as part of the emergency loan program for the restoration of Ukraine for 2016-2017 has provided for the allocation of UAH 350 million in 2016 for the restoration of housing and communal services, road transport infrastructure, energy efficiency measures in schools and health care institutions of Luhansk region, the press service of the Luhansk Regional Military and Civil Administration.
For the first tranche of the program, the funds were allocated to projects as subvention from the state to the local budget.
After a competitive selection of projects, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 90.268 million for the implementation of 26 projects across the region.
”Today, the tender documentation for the first tranche has passed approval of the Ministry of Regional Development and is being considered by the EIB officials. A total of 202 project applications have been submitted by the Ministry of Regional Development for participation in the second tranche of the program (177 of them with expertise) at a total cost of UAH 991 million,” the report says.
More funds should be involved in the restoration of utilities (electricity, heating, water supply and drainage) – 52 projects worth more than UAH 528 million.
In addition, 37 projects are aimed at the restoration of road infrastructure with the need to finance of about UAH 140 million.
It is also planned to attract more than UAH 60 million for the implementation of 113 projects in the social sphere aimed at reconstruction and capital repairs of schools, kindergartens and hospitals.
