IMF mission postpones Ukraine visit – source

The IMF has postponed the arrival of its mission to Ukraine due to internal reasons, according to UNIAN`s source close to the negotiations.

Ukraine`s key creditor, the International Monetary Fund, postponed the visit of its assessment mission to Ukraine, scheduled for today, October 26, citing its own internal reasons, the source has told UNIAN.

”The IMF postponed the arrival of the mission due to its internal reasons,” the source said, not specifying the date of the expected arrival of the IMF delegation, only saying that the Ukrainian side expected their visit ”as soon as possible”.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the International Monetary Fund late on September 14 announced the completion of the second review of the four-year program of cooperation with Ukraine, adopted in March 2015, and decided to allocate the third loan tranche of $1 billion.

The total amount of funds already allocated amounts to $7.62 billion of total lending target of $17.5 billion. The decision on the allocation of funds was made after more than a year break in relations between Ukraine and the IMF.

Ukraine expects to obtain another loan tranche within the Extended Fund Facility in the amount of $1.3 billion by the end of the year.

However, to secure more aid, Ukraine has to present a model of its pension system reform to kick off in 2017, the launch of the land market model, the model of tax legislation changes, including the abolition of the special VAT regime for agribusiness and simplified taxation system for legal entities. The IMF will also assess the draft budget for 2017.
