Gas talks begin in Berlin

The next round of gas talks between the EU, Ukraine and Russia began in Berlin on Friday with meetings held in a bilateral format, Press Officer of the European Commission in Germany Katrin Abele has told Ukrinform.
“At 10.00 [11.00 Kyiv time], a meeting began between [EU Energy Commissioner Gunther] Oettinger and [Russian Energy Minister Alexander] Novak. Then the EU commissioner will hold talks with the Ukrainian minister, and the conversation will then continue in a trilateral format,” she said.
The press conference of the negotiators is scheduled for 16.00 Kyiv time.
As reported, another round of trilateral talks between the EU, Russia and Ukraine on Russian gas supplies to Ukraine is held on Friday in the European Commission’s office in Berlin. The meeting is attended by Oettinger, Novak and Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan.
