EU allocates EUR 260 mln to Ukraine

The EU has granted Ukraine the next tranche of EUR 260 million in macro-financial assistance and provided an additional EUR 3.3 million as humanitarian assistance to the population affected by the conflict in Donbas.
The European Commission reported this on Wednesday, Ukrinform’s correspondent in Brussels said.
“Today, the European Commission, on behalf of the EU, disbursed a loan of EUR 260 million to Ukraine as part of the EU Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) facility for the country,” reads the statement.
This loan disbursement adds to the EUR 600 million extended earlier under two programs of macro-financial assistance.
The EU is also providing an additional EUR 3.3 million to help the most vulnerable population affected by the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine to meet their basic needs and prepare for the approaching winter. A further EUR 4.5 million is being provided to meet the recovery and integration needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities as well as to promote confidence-building.
“The European Union is ready to increase its support for the population affected by the conflict as part of its overall support for Ukraine,” EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said.
