Enhanced EU sanctions against Russia to come into force in next few days

The European Union has adopted a package of further sanctions against Russia, but they will take effect in the next few days, depending on whether the conditions of the ceasefire in Donbas are observed.
This was stated by European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, Ukrinform’s correspondent in Brussels reported.
“A package of further restrictive measures against Russia has been adopted by the Council today (through written procedure), deepening the targeted measures of July 31. The entry into force through the publication in the Official Journal will take place in the next few days. This will leave time for an assessment of the implementation of the cease-fire agreement and the peace plan,” Van Rompuy said.
He also noted that depending on the situation on the ground, the EU stands ready to review the agreed sanctions in whole or in part.
