Czech tax office checking Gazprom`s subsidiary

Vemex s.r.o., a subsidiary of Russian gas monopoly Gazprom in the Czech Republic, is being checked by the tax authorities, according to Slon.ru, with reference to Hospodarske Noviny.
According to the newspaper, the reason for an unscheduled tax audit was the information about the possible non-payment of VAT on gas purchase and sale transactions.
Vemex was founded in 2001. The company has been supplying natural gas to industrial enterprises. It also owns a network of automobile gas filling compressor stations.
The Austrian company Wingas, which is also a subsidiary of the Russian Gazprom, also operates in the Czech Republic, as well as in Germany.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Gazprom`s Nord Stream-2 project faced new challenges.
According to Germany`s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel, the project must meet the requirements of the EU legislation, not threaten the transit of gas from Russia via Ukraine, and not limit supplies to Eastern Europe.
