CEC may not announce official election results by November 10

Chairman of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission (CEC) Mykhailo Okhendovsky has said he does not rule out that the commission may have no time to announce the official results of the early parliamentary elections by November 10.
Okhendovsky said this at a meeting with a delegation from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the commission’s press service reported.
“Now we cannot confidently rule out a situation that can happen for the first time in the history of Ukrainian elections, when in the term set by the law – November 10 – the commission will not have any grounds and opportunities to establish and announce the election results at a nationwide multi-member constituency,” he said.
He said that this situation was related to the fact that by this time district election commission No. 59 (Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region) had not included 100% of the data on the outcome of the vote in the Elections information and analytical system and had not filed original protocols to the CEC due to the blocking of its work by unknown armed men.
“We fully understand that it may be qualified as inaction of the Central Election Commission. However, on the other hand, we by no means will allow ignoring the votes that were legally cast for candidates from political parties, regardless of their names,” Okhendovsky said.
However, he expressed hope that police officers would manage to restore order at electoral district No. 59 and secure the work of election commission members.
