Cabinet allocates UAH 17 million on Prozorro public procurement web portal

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated UAH 17 million to support and modernize Prozorro public procurement web portal that will help prepare the system for a full-fledged launch for all customers from August 1.
”This is a provision of financial support for the functioning of the web portal for public procurement in the amount of UAH 17 million. These funds will be disbursed on the development, purchase, completion and upgrade of a hardware and software system, which ensures the functioning of a web portal for public procurement,” Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv said while presenting the resolution at a government meeting July 22.
As UNIAN reported earlier, USAID intends to allocate for the Government of Ukraine $14 million for the promotion of e-governance, in particular of Prozorro, the system of electronic public procurement. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on December 25, 2015 adopted a law establishing a requirement for all public procurement to be made via a Prozorro e-procurement system – for ministries and large state-owned enterprises from April 1, 2016, and for all SOEs and government agencies – from as from August 1, 2016.
Budget savings due to Prozorro in May 2016 amounted to UAH 217 million at 16,400 tenders conducted.
It is expected that by the end of 2016, Prozorro will save some UAH 5 billion and another UAH 50 billion in 2017.
Prozorro received an international award at World Procurement Awards (WPA) in the Public Sector category.
