”Extremely challenging” for new “Ukrainian Railways” CEO, Poland`s Wojciech Balczun and his team – Minister of Infrastructure

The process of adaptation of the new Ukrzaliznytsia CEO, Poland`s Wojciech Balczun and his team has been dragging, according to Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, TSN reports.

”I can`t say that the new team is an epic fail but it is very challenging for them to work there,” the minister said in an interview.

”I expected that the adaptation process will be shorter, but it is too long. We are now taking all possible measures to help them, tell about things, and suggest possible mechanisms for pulling Ukrzaliznytsia forward,” Omelyan said.

The infrastructure minister said that the situation in Ukrzaliznytsia is no different from that across the country.

”Yes, people have grown accustomed to stealing, accustomed to not working, to abuse their positions — these traits are inherent in any state enterprise or government agency. We are changing this situation. I believe we will see qualitative change during Ukrzaliznytsia`s corporatization when we change completely the management system, introduce new standards, to be able to qualitatively enhance the responsibility of each employee,” said Volodymyr Omelyan.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine intends to change the current composition of the Supervisory Board of Public Joint Stock Company Ukrainian Railways [Ukraliznytsia], and add to its structure several independent experts. Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman during the Government Q&A in Parliament said that Ukrzaliznytsya was expected to reach a stable level of transportation of goods and passengers within a year.
