While the European Union officials met the Ukrainian, in Donbas one Ukrainian serviceman was killed and three wounded

The XVII EU-Ukraine summit was held in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Monday, April 27.

As reports the official website of European Council, President of Ukraine Poroshenko, President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker discussed the progress made by Ukraine on its political and economical reform process, regional topics, and the preparations for the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit in Riga:

“Europe can not do the hard job for you,” European Council president Tusk told . “It is for you and only for you, the Ukrainian nation and its government and parliament, to do the hard work of reforming Ukraine, to make Ukraine a more prosperous, a more just and a more fair country.”

EU leaders told they were worried about ceasefire violations in Eastern Ukraine and promised that EU would send a civilian “assessment” mission to Kyiv, to “explore ways to further boost security assistance for Ukraine”:

“We can only talk about a civilian mission, not military,” said European Council President Donald Tusk.

At the same time, Oleksandr Motuzianyk, special spokesman for the Ukrainian Presidential Administration, reported that in Eastern Ukraine one Ukrainian serviceman was killed and three injured:

“One of our servicemen was killed and another three comrades-in-arms suffered injuries in the hostilities in the past day,” Oleksandr Motuzianyk said.

Actually, and the rate of armed provocations staged by the pro-Russian terrorists has been rising:

“They have been escalating armed activity and ignoring the Minsk deal. Our positions came under seven attacks by use of 122mm cannons, 15 by 120mm mortars and two by tanks yesterday,” informed Oleksandr Motuzianyk, and added: “Cannons positioned in Sakhanka, five kilometers from the contact line, shelled the Ukrainian positions near Shyrokyne, and snipers were firing too”
