Ukraine’s ambassador to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisieiev gave an interview to Sky News.
Kostiantyn Yelisieiev talked about the situation with the town of Debaltseve in Donetsk Region that is very important transport hub:
“The situation around Debaltseve is a slap in the face of the democratic international community and the EU in particular.”
“Here, we count very much on the EU support. Because what has happened near Debaltseve, which is a huge railway hub, is kind of a slap in the face of the democratic international community, in particular, in the face of the European Union,” he said.
Yelisieiev stressed that it should not be allowed peaceful negotiations and the dialogue with the agressor:
“It should not be allowed that peaceful negotiations and the dialogue became kind of ‘smoke screen’ for President Putin, which will allow him to promote his interests in the Donbas and destabilize the situation.”
“The war in Ukraine is an open undeclared war in the nearest border regions with the European Union. We are calling upon the EU community to wake up in order to stop the bloodshed, to stop the war,” added Ukraine’s ambassador to the EU
Kostiantyn Yelisieiev underlined the necessity of more strict sanctions against Russian Federation and to help Ukraine with lethal weapons:
“Maybe it’s high time to consider the idea of introducing some restrictive measures, namely sanctions, and to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons, ” stated the Ukraine’s ambassador to the EU.
