Terrorist attack planed by so-called “DPR” in Dnipropetrovsk was prevented by SBU

Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that terrorist attack planned to be committed March 28 in Dnipropetrovsk was prevented.

“The Security Service of Ukraine detained a citizen who was preparing a terrorist attack in Dnipropetrovsk during the meeting of the local residents scheduled for Saturday. It was established that a 34-year-old resident of Pavlohrad received instructions to commit this crime from the representatives of the terrorist organization DPR as well as the money to buy weapons. The RPG-22 rocket launcher, two RGD-5 grenades with fuses, 90 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber, 4 rounds of 23 mm caliber, video surveillance equipment were seized during the search of the detainee’s apartment. The evidence confirming the miscreant’s illegal activities were found in his computer and mobile phone,” states the SBU report.

“According to the detainee, the representatives of the so-called DPR recruited him in July 2014 through the social networks. He collected intelligence on the Armed Forces of Ukraine detachments and transmitted it to the terrorists, was involved in search of associates through the communities in social networks to create so-called “guerrilla detachments” for subversive activity. He recently received instructions from his supervisors to examine the place of the meeting and to organize a terrorist attack,” the agency added.

The criminal proceedings under part 2 of the Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine were launched. The case is under investigation.
