The 434th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 03.05.2023.
Today, during the night, the Russian army launched another massive attack on the territory of Ukraine, using strike UAVs “Shahed-136/131”. Ukrainian troops destroyed 21 out of 26 of these drones. In total, the Russian army carried out 2 missile and 41 aviation strikes, as well as around 25 shelling attacks from rocket artillery systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian areas. Civilians have been affected, private houses and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed or damaged.
The probability of missile and aviation strikes throughout the territory of Ukraine remains high. The Russian army continues to concentrate its main efforts on offensive actions in the Luhansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariupol directions, where Ukrainian defense forces repelled about 30 attacks during the day. The fiercest battles are taking place in Bakhmut and Mariinka.
- On the Volyn and Polissya directions, no signs of Russian offensive formations have been detected. Preparation of personnel of the Russian territorial troops continues on the training grounds of Belarus.
- On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas with Ukraine in the Russian Federation. Within a day, artillery and mortar shelling of settlements in Buchka of Chernihiv region, Basivka, Yunakivka, Zapsillia of the Sumy region, as well as Sotnytskyi Kozachok, Huriv Kozachok, Baranivka, Chervona Zoria, Strilecha, Hatyshche, Vovchanski Khutory and Mykolaivka in Kharkiv region, were carried out.
- On the Kupyansk direction, Russian military did not carry out any offensive actions. Topoli, Kamianka, Fiholivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Lyman Pershyi, Kyslivka, Krokhalne, and Berestove of Kharkiv region suffered from Russian artillery and mortar shelling.
- On the Lyman direction, Russian soldiers carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Bilohorivka in order to find weak points in Ukraine’s defense. Makiiivka, Bilohorivka of Luhansk region, and Torske, Verkhniokamianske, and Spirne of Donetsk region were shelled by artillery.
- On the Bahmut direction, the Russian army continues to carry out offensive actions. Fighting continues in the city of Bahmut. The attacks of Russian military in the direction of the settlement of New York were unsuccessful. Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bahmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, Pivnichne and Pivdenne, as well as New York of Donetsk region, were affected by Russian shelling.
- On the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops carried out offensive actions in the area of Severnoe of Donetsk region but were not successful. Novokalynove, Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Toneinke, Karlivka, Netaylove and Pervomaiske were also shelled.
- On the Marinka direction, the Russian army is attempting to improve its tactical position. Over the last day, Ukrainian soldiers repelled numerous attacks in the areas of Marinka and Novomykhailivka. In addition, Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk Oblast was subjected to Russian shelling.
- On the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops shelled the towns of Vuhledar, Bohoyavlenske, Novoukrayinka, Prechystivka, Zolota Niva, and Shakhtarske in the Donetsk Oblast.
- On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian soldiers are defending themselves. They shelled Vremivka, Novosilka, and Novopil in Donetsk Oblast; Hulyaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Kapulivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; and Antonivka and the city of Kherson.
In order to somehow protect their personnel from the fire of the Ukrainian defense forces, the Russian army continues to cynically use the local population in temporarily occupied territories. Russian aggressors are placing their units among the private homes of residents in settlements of the Kakhovka district.
The Armed Forces’ aviation struck three times at Russian personnel concentrations during the day. In addition, over the course of the day, Ukrainian military destroyed five reconnaissance UAVs of various types and one Lancet barrage shell.
Units of missile troops and artillery of the Ukrainian army struck the area of Russian personnel and ammunition depots concentration.
