General Staff operational report June 16, 2023 on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The 478th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 16.06.2023.

Russian troops’ attacks on the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine

The Russian Federation continues to conduct an aggressive war. Despite significant losses, it refuses to abandon its plans for the full occupation of Ukrainian territory. The Russian army continues to disregard the laws and customs of war, employing tactics of terror and striking military as well as civilian targets.

Within a day, Russian troops launched another missile strike on the Kyiv region, using 6 air-ballistic missiles Kh-47 Kinjal and 6 cruise missiles Kalibr. All 12 missiles were destroyed by the anti-aircraft defense forces of the Ukrainian Air Force and Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Furthermore, during the day, the Russian army carried out 24 aviation strikes and conducted around 35 shelling attacks using multiple rocket launch systems. Unfortunately, besides infrastructure destruction, innocent civilians have been affected.

The probability of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

The Russian army continues to concentrate its main efforts in the directions of Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka. Within a day, there were 21 combat clashes.
