The 207th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 18.09.2022.
The Russian Federation’s efforts are still concentrated on attempting to completely seize the Donetsk oblast, organize defense, retain the captured territory, and obstruct the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operational activities in some regions of Ukraine. It opens fire on Ukrainian forces’ positions along the contact line, takes action to split up its units, sends out reserves, and never stops conducting illegal aerial surveillance.
Russia is still shelling Ukrainian civilian homes and infrastructure, breaking the rules of international humanitarian law as well as war law and tradition.
Russian forces have attacked military and civilian targets in Ukraine with 6 missile launches, 28 airstrikes, and more than 90 rocket-propelled grenades in the last 24 hours.
More than 30 villages’ infrastructure was harmed. Kharkiv, Dvorichna, Kamianka, Krasnohorivka, Novomyhaylivka, Neskuchne, Uspenivka, Myroliubivka, Biliayivka, Visokopillia, Mykolayiv ad others. In addition to the cities of Chuhuyiv and Kramatorsk, where there are casualties among the civilian population, the Russian army also targeted civilian targets on the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia. All around Ukraine, there is still a risk of airstrikes and missile attacks.
There hasn’t been much of a shift in the Volyn and Polissia directions.
Russia also fired from tanks, mortars, and several types of artillery in other directions, specifically:
- in the Huta-Studenetska district of the Chernihiv oblast in the Siverskyi direction;
- in the direction of Kharkiv, namely from the Russian Federation’s territory, in the vicinity of the Ukrainian towns of Kozacha Lopan, Hoptivka, Strilecha, Visoka Yaruga, Vovchansk, Gatyshche, Budarky, Dvorichna, Kupiansk, and Kamyanka;
- Rayhorodok, Ozerne, Piskunivka, Kryva Luka, Siversk, Mykolayivka, Verhnokamyanske, Spirne, and Vesele in the direction of Kramatorsk;
- Rozdolivka, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Vesela Dolyna, Zaytseve, Odradivka, Mykolayivka Druha, Maiorsk, and New York (Donetsk region) are all in the direction of Bakhmut;
- Kamyanka, Avdiyivka, Vodiane, Opytne, and Krasnohorivka are all in the direction of Avdiyivka;
- Kamyanske, Stepove, Orihiv, Huliaypilske, Bilohiria, Olhivske, Temyrivka, Novosilka, Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Prechystivka, and Vuhledar in the Zaporizhzhia directions.
Russia was shelling the whole contact line in the direction of South Buh. The fire affected more than 20 Ukrainian communities, including Trudoliubivka, Petrivka, Bila Krynytsya, Lozove, Blahodativka, Shyroke, Partyzanske, Ternovi Pody, Lymany, Myrne, and Tavriyske in particular.
Russian troops continue to commit crimes against the civilians in the Kherson oblast region that they have briefly taken control of. As a result, information on the widespread eviction of residents from their own houses in Pryozerne and Tryfonivka is coming in. Under the threat of death, members of the Russian army coerce the locals to construct Russian positions in the vicinity of the Chonhar town.
Detailed evidence indicates that more than 200 pieces of military equipment and more than 50% of the Russian soldiers of the 11th Army Corps from the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation were lost during the occupying forces’ withdrawal from the Kharkiv region.
Additionally, the Russian Eastern Military District’s 64th separate motorized rifle brigade lost more than 90% of its men due to deaths, wounds, deserters, and dismissals as a result of refusing to take part in combat. The equipment of the brigade is given over to units of the border service of the FSB of the Russian Federation, and the military unit is being readied for disbandment.
When Russian troops attempted to storm the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the direction of Avdiyivka, they sustained substantial losses. The information that is currently available indicates that every day, more than 30 members of the 1st Army Corps of the Russian military are hospitalized to the hospitals. Every effort is being made by the Russian authority to restore the combat ability of units that have sustained losses.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully withstood Russian attacks during the course of the day in the communities of Mykhailivka Druha, Vesela Dolyna, Odradivka, Mariyinka, Novomyhailivka, and Pravdyne.
A total of 13 Russian equipment and manpower concentrations as well as 3 anti-aircraft missile system sites were targeted during the day by Ukrainian aviation. In addition, Ukrainian air defense forces downed a Ka-52 hostile helicopter in addition to five Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.
More than 200 Russian objects received fire damage from rocket troops and artillery. Among them are 12 command and control stations, ammunition, gasoline, and oil storage facilities, artillery positions, and sites where Russian troops and military hardware are concentrated. Verification of Russia’s casualties is presently underway.
