The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said in Telegram that on the night of August 8, 2022, Ukraine’s army hit the points of temporary deployment of Russian troops at the industrial sites in Melitopol (south of Ukraine) with HIMARS missiles. As a result, 100 Russian soldiers were killed and a variety of military equipment was destroyed.

According to preliminary estimates, a significant amount of military equipment was destroyed and over 100 Russian soldiers were killed.
According to the mayor, the current night is the most effective for the Ukrainian military in the region and shows that the existing enemy air defense units are no longer capable of resisting HIMARS missiles.
In his opinion, this creates the necessary prerequisites for a successful counteroffensive in the Melitopol direction.
