Yatseniuk: Offshore era is over in Ukraine

The parliament adopted amendments to the legislation, which allowed the disclosure of final beneficiaries and makes it impossible thus concealing data, in particular, about the offshore area or owners of the so-called shell companies.
265 deputies voted for the Law “On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding definition of final beneficiaries of legal persons and public figures.”
This normative act, in particular, opens a register of real rights on real estate of all Ukrainians.
After the law was adopted, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, attending the parliament meeting, said that from now on, no one will be able to hide information about one’s property or income.
“The offshore era is over in Ukraine. Now every official will be “plainly visible,” the Prime Minister said.
