The President thanked the head of the European Commission for her personal support of Ukraine.
“Today we had a substantive conversation. We discussed several important issues.”
According to him, he and von der Leyen discussed, in particular, issues related to energy challenges, in particular the attacks of Russian soldiers on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine.
“There will be many challenges this winter. And here we all need to work, work together [with the EU – ed.].”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked Ursula von der Leyen for the fact that Ukraine had the opportunity to join the European power grids.
“We are all interested in this: European countries can receive cheap electricity and Ukraine can earn money for its budget, which will help us pay salaries and pensions.”
The President said that they also discussed how to expand the possibilities of Ukraine in the supply of electricity to the EU countries.
Ukrainian President also noted that he discussed with von der Leyen Ukraine’s receipt of macro-financial assistance from the EU for the next year, and the issue of Ukraine joining the EU internal market while it is still on the way to EU membership.
“We also discussed the continuation of pressure on the Russian Federation due to the upcoming 8th package of sanctions. We talked about the details of the future package, which we are interested in.”
The Head of state emphasized that, in general, the meeting with the President of the European Commission was “very good”.
