“Ukraine must be a participant in the Three Seas Initiative. It is wrong that our state remained outside the Initiative. We need to find a format in which we can implement the accession.”

Zelenskyy suggested strengthening the interpretation of cooperation within the “Three Seas”, emphasizing the importance of logistics.

“Three Seas states are our connection to the free world. The supply of weapons to Ukraine, the supply of fuel, transport flows, green corridors for the export of Ukrainian food, and the migration of people all work through the territory of the member states”, said the President.

Speaking about cooperation in the energy sector, Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine has one of the largest gas storage facilities in the region.

“Using the capabilities of the Poland-Slovakia, Poland-Ukraine interconnectors, we can meet the needs of all Three Seas countries. Our electricity exports can contribute to the energy balance of your countries. And it will help you become independent of Russian energy pressure.”

The Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki stated that the Three Seas Initiative would not be possible without an independent Ukraine, and hinted at the importance of Ukraine’s involvement in this format of cooperation.

Uaposition memo: The Three Seas Initiative currently brings together 12 Central and Eastern European and Baltic states – Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovenia and Croatia.
