The Ministry of Defense of Spain noted on January 12, 2023, on Twitter, that 225 Ukrainian servicemen arrived in Spain for military training. 20 of them will undergo training in handling HAWK air defense systems, which the country promised to provide to Kyiv to counter Russian air attacks.

“More than 200 Ukrainian soldiers arrived in Spain to improve technical combat skills and weapons handling in the EUMAM Ukraine training program. This is the second group of troops, under the direction of Toledo Training Command and coordination with the European Union,” wrote the Ministry of Defense of Spain.
The country’s Ministry of Defense noted that 20 people from this group will undergo training on HAWK air defense systems. The rest of the servicemen, who are Ukrainian civilians with no previous military experience, will undergo basic training: it will include training in providing medical aid to the wounded and demining explosive devices.
