Ukrainian farmers since the beginning of the 2016-2017 marketing year (MY, July 2016 – June 2017) exported a record 39.14 million tonnes of grains, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported.
”As of May 17, 2017 Ukraine sets a new record – in the current marketing year, 39.14 million tonnes of cereals was exported, which is by 120,000 tonnes more than in the whole 2015/2016 MY,” the report says.
The press service stressed that the success was due to an increase in barley exports, reaching 5.14 million tonnes, with only 4.4 million tonnes being exported last MY.
Wheat exports were recorded at 16.28 million tonnes, barley – at 5.14 million tonnes, maize – at 17.5 million tonnes, rye – at 4,000 tonnes.
In addition, during the reporting period, Ukrainian farmers exported to various foreign markets some 306,000 tonnes of flour.
Earlier, Ukrainian agribusinesses set a record target for 2016-2017 MY grains exports at 41.6 million tonnes.
According to the State Statistics Service, in 2016 Ukraine harvested 65.95 million tonnes of grains and legumes, which is 9.7% more than in 2015, having set the country`s ultimate record.
