The Commander of the Air Force of Ukraine noted on February 25, 2023, that since September 2022, Ukrainian air defense systems have destroyed more than 650 cruise missiles and more than 610 kamikaze drones, which the Russian Federation used to attack the territory of Ukraine.

“Since September 11, 2022, more than 650 cruise missiles of Russian troops and more than 610 Iranian attack drones have been destroyed,” informed the Commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to Mykola Oleschuk, the Air Force received anti-aircraft missile complexes NASAMS, IRIS-T, Crotale, anti-aircraft self-propelled guns Gepard from Western partners and is currently waiting to receive Patriot and SAMP/T-MAMBA. However, Mykola Oleschuk noted, that this assistance is not enough.
“We need more technological modern weapons that will help to quickly restore order in the sky and free it from the presence of aerial terrorists [Russian military – ed.]. Our allies know what Ukraine specifically needs, in particular the Air Force. These are modern multi-purpose aircraft, medium and long-range anti-aircraft missile systems,” added Colonel General Mykola Oleschuk.
