The State Treasury Service of Ukraine in 2016 revealed over 12,000 cases involving UAH 5.1 billion in transactions when budget legislation was violated by managers and recipients of state and local budget funds, according to the service`s materials shared with UNIAN news agency.
This was 37.8% up from transactions in 2015, which were estimated at UAH 3.7 billion, they said.
There were nearly 900 cases in 2016 when transactions with budget funds were halted in the accounts of managers and recipients on the initiative of the State Treasury`s agencies. Among the most significant violations were false reporting and infringements on the pre-payment procedure.
UNIAN news agency memo. Under the Budget Code of Ukraine, if managers and recipients of budget funds breach legal acts concerning to the national and local budgets, the State Treasury either notifies them, asking to eliminate the violation, or suspends transactions with budget funds in accounts opened at the Treasury.
