Ukrainian law enforcement officers exhumed the bodies of five children who died from shrapnel wounds during Russian shelling in the liberated city of Lyman in the Donetsk region on October 18, 2022.

“The police officers exhumed the bodies of girls born in 2021, 2019, and 2008, and boys born in 2011 and 2012 from the mass graves. The two youngest girls are sisters. After the forensic medical examination, the children will be reburied,” the report of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine says.
It is noted that the investigators found four children in a mass burial at the cemetery. The mother buried another boy in her yard.
“Preliminarily, it has been established that all died from shrapnel wounds as a result of Russian shelling,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Several mass graves have already been found in Lyman. One of them contained the bodies of the Ukrainian military.
