The Central Election Commission of Ukraine (CEC) believes there are no conditions for holding elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, chairman Mykhailo Okhendovskiy told journalists at an international conference on the latest information technologies in the election process on March 27, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
Okhendovskiy also noted that the CEC representatives are traditionally and regularly invited to the Verkhovna Rada committees, when bills related to the organization and preparation of elections are considered.<
”Since the very definition of the occupied territories provides for regulating the issues of possibility or impossibility of holding elections in those areas (and conditions for their holding, if deemed possible), CEC envoys, of course, are involved in the relevant work. At the moment, I can say that the CEC does not see any conditions for holding elections on the territories beyond the Ukrainian government control. As soon as these conditions are created, we will be ready to participate in setting up any electoral processes,” he said.
