“Another step of solidarity from Canada. Ukraine will receive 450 million Canadian dollars in aid for the purchase of gas before the heating season,” Shmyhal wrote.
The Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Finance Minister Christa Freeland and the entire Canadian people for their steadfast support of Ukraine in the fight for democracy and freedom.
This amount is a part of a C$1.95 billion loan, Canada committed to Ukraine to support Kyiv during the Russian invasion.
“With today’s disbursement of C$450 million in loans—which will help Ukraine purchase the heating fuel it needs before winter—we have now disbursed all loans to Ukraine committed to date,” Canadian Finance Minister said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal instructed regional administration chiefs to create reserves of fuel, heating equipment and material in Ukraine.
