Emine Dzhaparova emphasized the importance of further support for Ukraine ahead of the difficult winter period. The First Deputy noted that by launching missile strikes on energy infrastructure, Russia seeks to deepen the humanitarian crisis and cause a new wave of displaced persons from Ukraine.
The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine thanked the Japanese side for consistent financial and humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people, as well as efforts to increase sanctions pressure on Russia.
“Today, Ukraine and Japan maintain a very intensive political dialogue. I hope that soon our relations will reach the level of strategic partnership,” said the First Deputy Minister.
Nakagome Masashi confirmed the unchanging policy of official Tokyo regarding comprehensive support for Ukraine. In particular, Japan will continue to provide strong humanitarian support and demining assistance. He also promised that Ukraine would be a priority during Japan’s chairmanship of the Group of Seven in 2023.
“We will continue to unite the G7 for further strong support for Ukraine and maintain a tough sanctions policy,” the Director General of the European Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
