Ukraine seeks NATO`s assistance in introducing innovative command-and-control system

Kyiv is holding talks with NATO over a possible assistance in the introduction of the innovative C4ISR command-and-control system in the Ukrainian armed forces, a senior Ukrainian parliament official said recently, according to Xinhua.

”We are trying to negotiate about the need of introduction of the C4ISR command-and-control system in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. That would be a real revolution for our army,” Iryna Friz, the head of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, told reporters, Xinhua reports.

The C4ISR — command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance system, can ensure the development of Ukraine`s security and defense sectors according to the standards of the 21st century, Friz said.

She emphasized that NATO`s support for Ukraine, particularly under a Comprehensive Package of Assistance approved in July, has already helped Kiev to step up implementation of reforms in its security and defense sectors.

The establishment of the C4ISR system is a part of the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine — the roadmap for the country`s development of defense sector by 2021.

Ukraine is not a member of NATO, but closely cooperates with the alliance and participates in NATO`s Partnership for Peace Program.
