Ukraine readies to lodge with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) a statement on Russia`s violations of the Convention on International Civil Aviation and other core agreements, according to Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion.
”Today we were visited by President of ICAO Council Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu and Regional Director of ICAO European and North Atlantic Office Luis Fonseca De Almeida. The main topic on our agenda was boosting airspace security,” Kistion wrote on Facebook.
”At today`s meeting, I called on the ICAO leadership to take effective action toward stopping Russia from violating of ICAO standards and recommended practices, and canceling NOTAMs regarding the airspace over Simferopol district [Russian-occupied Crimea]. Crimea is Ukraine, and we count on ICAO support in the issue of the normalization of flight flows over the peninsula,” said Kistion.
