Compared to June 2021, iron ore exports decreased by 2.45 times. In January-June, Ukrainian metallurgists shipped about 17 million tons of ore abroad, which is 24.1% less than in the same period last year.
According to the results of the first half of the year, revenue from the export of goods from Ukraine fell by 23.7% compared to January-June 2021 – up to $22.8 billion. In the second quarter, the figure fell by 37.4% compared to the first quarter and by 45.8% compared to the second quarter of 2021, to $8.78 billion.
“Obviously, the main reason for the decline in exports is the blockade of ports. In the second quarter alone, maritime transport in Ukraine fell by 86.5%, which is about 21 .6 million tons of cargo,” said Taras Kachka.
The deputy minister added that geographically, Ukrainian exports are completely focused on EU countries.
“Geographically, exports are completely focused on the EU. 78% of our exports in the second quarter were to the EU. The total value of exports to these countries in April -June amounted to $6.86 billion, which is 6.4% more than in the second quarter of 2021,” Taras Kachka summed up.
