Olena Tolkachova, the Head of the Patronage Service of the “Azov” regiment said in an interview on September 19, 2022, that Ukraine receives the bodies of the dead from Russia in terrible condition, it is almost impossible to identify a person by eye, and sometimes it is not even possible to take the material for DNA analysis.

“So that you understand, now we receive the dead in such a condition that it is very difficult to recognize a person – there are no tattoos anymore, the stage of decomposition is terrible.”
According to Olena Tolkachova, the patronage service of “Azov” works with bodies already after the dead are taken to the morgue. In particular, they help to identify the dead.
The Head of the “Azov” patronage service noted that she was even more impressed by the attitude of the Russians towards the bodies of their own dead, which she could observe during the exchange.
“I just can’t imagine what they [Russians – ed.] can afford there with bodies of the dead Ukrainians when we don’t see it.”
Instead, the Ukrainian side immediately moves the bodies of the dead Russians to proper conditions for storage at a temperature of minus 22 or minus 32 degrees in special box-wagons. After such storage, the dead can, in principle, be identified visually.
