Ukraine received high-precision Excalibur munitions from the USA

On September 8, 2022, it became known that the US sent Ukraine its high-precision Excalibur artillery shells with GPS guidance, which are capable of hitting a target at a distance of 40.5 kilometers.

The Pentagon supplied these shells to the Ukrainian military forces for the first time ever, according to a plan to replenish the US stock of Excaliburs. Officials ignored questions about the Excalibur, despite reports that they were being prepared to supply them and that they were already in use in Ukraine.

These munitions can be fired from 155mm howitzers. Excalibur’s accuracy means that you can hit the target with one shot. This reduces the need for additional shots and minimizes collateral damage. A projectile can reach a target from a distance of approximately 40.5 kilometers.

According to a budget document published last month, the Pentagon intends to spend $92 million on the purchase of Excalibur munitions for Ukraine.

Uaposition memo: The Excalibur is a satellite-guided weapon which can hit its target within seven feet (two metres). It was first used in Iraq in 2007 to kill Abu Jurah, leader of al-Qaeda, and his associates.
