Western sanctions against Russia should be short-term and strong, Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko said at a Yalta European Strategy (YES) forum in Kyiv on Friday.
“We must switch to short-term, but extremely strong sanctions that can have a rather powerful influence on the aggressor and stop it for a few weeks, and against this background it is necessary to hold substantive negotiations,” she said.
In her opinion, long-term and weak sanctions lead to the economic and financial exhaustion of large companies in Europe, but do not drastically affect Russian President Vladimir Putin’s policies.
