Dozens of churches, historical monuments and museums have already been damaged during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

At this moment, 29 religious buildings, 16 buildings of historical significance, four museums, and four monuments have been destroyed or damaged.
“We are very concerned about both the situation at the humanitarian and cultural heritage levels. Humanity’s heritage is in danger (in Ukraine).”
UNESCO chief Audrey Azoulay wrote to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the beginning of March to remind him that Russia is a signatory to the convention for the protection of cultural heritage at the time of war, but Moscow hadn’t responded.
